Clinical Education

Clinical Education & Support - Evidence Led, Practical and Flexible

The Permobil Clinical Services Team brings deep experience, clinical reasoning expertise, and real-world insight to every education engagement. Whether you are looking for a short, informal learning session, a tailored workshop, or ongoing support across complex cases, we deliver education that meets you where you are - in your clinic, online, or out in the community.

Our goal is simple: to support Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to gain confidence, sharpen clinical skills, and deliver the best possible outcomes for their clients.

Clinical Education - What Our Education Offers

Our education is designed to be:

    • Evidence based and reflective of current and emerging research
    • Practical and clinically relevant, connecting the evidence to real clients, real environments, and real-world decision making
    • Interactive and hands-on, focused on skill development and problem solving
    • Flexible, built around your learning goals, your team, and your time
    • Supportive of your growth, designed to scaffold with your experience, goals and learning needs. We have you covered, whether you are new graduates or experienced prescribers.
    • Challenging and thought provoking, we will continue to challenge you with tailored sessions and new research

Learning shouldn’t be boring or rigid, nor should it be a sales pitch. Our focus is clinical reasoning, not product promotion. Our sessions are dynamic, and we value your knowledge and experience in the learning process.

Topics & Themes

Rather than structured, one size fits all “courses”, we offer tailored education sessions built around the areas you want to strengthen. Common themes include:

    • Power Wheelchairs - environmental access, power seat functions, programming, standing, and the functional impact of configuration choices
    • Manual Wheelchairs - materials, configuration, set‑up, biomechanics, and practical skills
    • Paediatrics - early mobility intervention, skill acquisition, and why prescribing MWCs and PWC’s are just not “small” adult wheelchairs
    • Pressure & Skin Integrity - pressure injury risk, prevention, and management
    • Seating & Positioning - from points of control to interpreting ISO standards for informed cushion and back support selection
    • Assistive Technology Report Writing - clarity, evidence, and communication
    • Power Assist Devices - clinical reasoning, client selection, and understanding device specific considerations
    • Foundations of Wheeled Mobility - assessment principles and clinical fundamentals
    • The Mechanical Assessment Tool (MAT) - theory, hands on practice, and interpretation
Don’t see what you’re looking for? Where practical, we’re happy to personalise content for your team or practice setting.
