In 1967 a Swedish physiatrist, Dr. Per Udden, was frustrated that his clients’ function and participation in their environment was limited by their wheelchair and seating equipment. As a result, Dr. Per Udden founded Permobil with the following mission:
“We believe that every person with a disability has the right to have their disability compensated to its fullest by technology we use in our everyday lives.” - Dr. Per Udden
Fifty-seven years later, the company has grown tremendously, yet this continues to be Permobil’s Mission Statement. Permobil is recognized as the industry leader not only in innovation in complex rehab technology (CRT), but also in education of clinicians, providers, and consumers in CRT applications.
Permobil’s Clinical and Technical Education Team seeks to empower access through education. We are the trusted, approachable resource empowering clinicians and providers to change wheelchair users’ lives through practical education. This is our mission, and we would like to connect with you to help you change your practice and change your clients’ lives!
Permobil Academy offers both CEU and hands-on practical training lab education opportunities, and we encourage you to take advantage of both. In PT and OT school, we all had lecture and lab classes to develop our clinical skills. Our experience is that both are necessary to develop your clinical skills in wheelchair seating and mobility practice.

We would love to bring these opportunities to your facility, in-person and/or virtually. Whether you are big or small; whether you are in a rehab center or a home health agency; whether you work with pediatrics or geriatrics; we would love to share education experiences with you that will empower your practice and your clients to have better outcomes.
Reach out to your local Permobil Territory Sales Manager or your local Clinical Education Manager in the US or Canada to coordinate an educational program for your facility.
