Description:
This webinar will highlight the intricate nature of prescribing a one of a kind TiLite ultra lightweight manual wheelchair, including discussion from a person using a TiLite manual wheelchair for mobility. We will cover specific “how to “details for the some key measurements, and discuss with the subsequent outcomes with the person who is now using that wheelchair every day. When a wheelchair is customized to a person’s individual needs, it fits the person like a tailored garment of clothing. However, when there is an inadequate fit between the person and their ultralight weight manual wheelchair, the person is left to compensate when propelling and may not recognize this until it is too late. Immediate difficulty with propulsion, limited function, and overuse injuries may not be obvious right away, because the person has been compensating from the start! As stated in the RESNA position paper, the wheelchair should conform to the person, the person should not have to conform to the improper fit of the their wheelchair.

In addition to Permobil Marketing and Education team members, we will also be joined by Ryan Sproull, the Director of Outdoor Recreational Sports for the Lonestar Paralysis Foundation in Austin, TX. He sustained a traumatic SCI about 13 years ago resulting in him being paralyzed at and below T8.
