ROHO Inflation: Standard & Atmospheric

Proper inflation is required for optimal skin protection and postural stability. There are two ways to inflate a ROHO cushion:

  • Standard Inflation: Inflate the cushion until all air cells are overinflated and the cushion begins to arch. Close valve, and adjust for proper immersion.
  • Atmospheric Inflation (If determined appropriate by a clinician): Inflate until all air cells are firm, remove pump and keep valve open. Allow air to escape, close the inflation valve, and adjust for proper immersion. Environmental factors such as altitude, temperature, and body weight changes can affect air volume.

Lightbult-icon-menu-blackClinical tip: Regular hand checks to monitor inflation help optimize skin integrity and patient comfort, especially in changing environments.

How to perform a hand check

The hand check is a quick and effective way to ensure a properly adjusted ROHO cushion.

For Clinicians: Use this method to assess proper immersion during cushion evaluation and set-up.

For Users & Caregivers: Perform this check daily for continued skin protection and postural support.

1. Have the user sit in their typical position on the cushion. If you are performing the hand check, request and receive permission from the user before proceeding.

2. Slide your hand between the cushion base and the lowest bony prominence (typically the ischial tuberosity or sacrum).

3. Ideal immersion: About ½ to 1 inch of space between the body and the cushion base.

4. Adjust air levels accordingly to achieve ideal immersion.

Lightbult-icon-menu-blackClinical tip: A properly adjusted cushion can reduce peak pressure points and can assist with skin protection.

ROHO's ISOFLO Memory Control

The ISOFLO Memory Control mechanism enhances positioning and stability while maintaining individualized pressure redistribution. This feature is available on ROHO’s Select Series cushions.

QS-single-vs-4

For Clinicians: Use the ISOFLO Memory Control to individualize air distribution, accommodating unique postural needs

For Users & Caregivers: Easily adjust and lock air levels in different cushion sections to improve comfort and balance.

How It Works:

🔹 Open the ISOFLO mechanism, allowing air to flow throughout the entire cushion, by pushing in the green button to allow full immersion and pressure redistribution
🔹 Close the ISOFLO mechanism by pushing in the red button to lock air into targeted sections for enhanced stability

Lightbult-icon-menu-blackClinical tip: The ISOFLO Memory Control is particularly beneficial to users with asymmetrical postures or those requiring additional stability.

ROHO's Smart Check®: Cushion monitoring

Smart Check® is an advanced electronic feedback system designed to help users and clinicians monitor proper cushion inflation.

For Clinicians:

  • Use Smart Check to establish the ideal inflation level during evaluations and set-up.
  • Provide objective feedback on cushion performance.

For Users & Caregivers:

  • Personalized Settings: Once set up by your clinician or care team, Smart Check remembers the ideal air level for future use.
  • One-Touch Monitoring: Press the button to check if the cushion is at the correct inflation level.
  • Peace of Mind: Reduces the risk of under-inflation (bottoming out) or over-inflation (reduced immersion).

Why it matters: Smart Check provides real-time guidance, helping users maintain consistent pressure relief with minimal effort.

How to maintain your ROHO product

Regular maintenance is essential for ensuring long-term performance and patient safety.

Daily Checks

  • For Users: Perform a hand check to confirm the proper air level.
  • For Clinicians: Encourage patients to self-monitor or educate caregivers on proper cushion adjustment.

Cleaning & Hygiene

  • Cushion: Wipe down with mild soap and water.
  • Cover: Machine wash according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Routine Inspection

  • Check for air leaks, damaged valves, or worn-out areas.
  • If loss of air is detected, re-inflate and monitor for stability.

Storage & Protection

  • Keep the cushion away from sharp objects, extreme heat, and prolonged direct sunlight.
  • Store in a cool, dry place when not in use.

Good-Choice-IconA well-maintained ROHO cushions enhances skin protection, seating stability, and overall comfort for long-term use.
