Floriane's Story
Living with both a visible and invisible disability has many challenges for Floriane, including managing pain daily as well as navigating physical mobility. However, she does not let her health slow her down! She enjoys spending time outdoors, is a passionate partaker of adapted sports, and has completed 10 kilometere races as a wheelchair runner.
“For me sport isn’t about performance, it’s an act of resistance and resilience,” Floriane says. It is a way to reclaim my body, even when it’s fragile. To remind it that it’s more than just a diagnosis and that I’m still capable.”
It is this resilient pursuit of a life without limits which has seen Floriane take setbacks in her stride and use her inner strength to bounce back stronger than before, whether it be competing for her personal best in a race or following an unexpected tenure in hospital to prioritise her health.
“Living with a chronic illness or progressive disability doesn’t mean having to stop everything – it’s primarily about learning to cope in a different way,” she says.
